Connect WhatsApp to Meta Muse
Meta Muse is a personal AI agent that does things for you across the apps you give it access to. One of the ways you widen what it can reach is a custom MCP connector: a secure endpoint that hands Muse a set of tools to call. WhatsMCP is that kind of endpoint for WhatsApp. Connect it, and Muse can send and read messages, pull up a chat, find a contact, and more, on a number you have already paired.
Here is how to wire the two together.
What you need first
- A WhatsMCP account with at least one WhatsApp number paired and showing Connected in your dashboard.
- An API key, from Settings > API keys in the WhatsMCP console. Copy the whole value when you create it; the key is shown once and not again.
Add the connector in Muse
-
In Muse, open the settings for custom connectors and choose to add one.
-
Give it the WhatsMCP endpoint:
https://api.whatsmcp.com/mcp -
For the credential, paste your WhatsMCP API key. Muse can send it either as an
Authorization: Bearer <key>header or as anX-API-Key: <key>header, so use whichever field the connector dialog offers for a secret. -
Save and let Muse test the connection. On success it lists the WhatsApp tools it can now use.
You do this once per number. Muse keeps the connector afterwards.
What you can ask for once it is connected
With the connector in place, you can ask Muse in plain language to, for example:
- send a WhatsApp message to a contact or a group;
- read back or summarise a recent conversation;
- find a contact or look up a chat;
- react to a message, or check whether one was delivered and read.
Muse stops for your approval before anything it treats as sensitive, such as sending a message, so nothing leaves your number without you saying yes.
If the tool list does not show up
- Check that the key you pasted is the full value and still shows as active in the console. A revoked key, or one copied only in part, will not authenticate.
- Paste the key on its own, without surrounding quotes or extra spaces.
- Make sure the number is paired and Connected. A connector with no live number behind it has nothing to act on.
A note on availability
Meta is rolling Muse out in stages, and custom connectors may not have reached every account or region yet. If you do not see the connector settings in Muse, that is why; the steps above apply once they appear.
